I was waiting less than patiently for this conclusion to Caine and Addison's story. My heart was breaking for them at the end of book one. So to catch up with them 7 years later and I was super happy to find that the spark and chemistry were still there. If anything even more of a fire there since Addison had time to grow up and come into her own! I loved catching up with what had changed and what had stayed the same.Addison has figured out a way to stay off the grid and yet to become thoroughly successful in building a homeless transition center that will help families be successful in getting back on their feet.
Caine has never forgotten Addison and has spent the past seven years hunting David who is still haunting Addison and always is a step ahead. Caine hopes that if he catches David then he will be able to bring Addison home.
When Caine pulls Addison over the sparks fly and it's as if no time has passed! The two of them dance around each other, wanting each other yet each trying to be the bigger person and keeping a distance.
As with all of Violet's books, you get to check in with characters that we've met before and the supporting characters add humor and are some of my favorite parts of her stories.
I stayed up far too late to finish this because I HAD to know what happened!! You will too! I loved Caine and Addison and was cheering them on to find their HEA.

Book two slayed me! Violet Duke has a beautiful way with words. Her ability to write such clear emotions and complex characters pulls you into every aspect of their lives. I longed for Addison and Caine to be together again.
For second chance romances to work, I need a clear and believable reason for the split as well as evidence that things are worth fighting for the second time around. The author gave us all that in spades. There was no doubt in my mind that these Addison and Caine belonged together. They had both endured so much heartache over the seven years they were apart. It was like their hearts were two pieces of a whole pulling towards each other across the miles. When they were finally back in each others presence, I could physically feel all of the longing, love, and need that pulsed between them. It was heartbreaking and yet hopeful at the same time.
I loved everything about this book. I loved the way Addison and Caine reconnected, their flirting, which was insanely hot and sweet, their constant struggle to stay away from each other, and finally their profession of love. I enjoyed the interactions Addison had with her family, her strength throughout her struggles, and what she was able to accomplish in her life. Everything she did was for Tanner and Kylie, and it was beautiful to see how giving and loving these two turned out to be. And I can’t forget the thrill ride we were sent on. The author definitely kept me guessing; I never saw the little twist at the end coming!
I love all of the friends and family in this book! Alec, Marco, and all of Caine’s brothers are great characters. I especially love how much they all tease each other and rile Caine up. They kept me laughing! I’m looking forward to reading more about these guys and their journeys to finding love.
It was so exciting to finally be able to read what happens in the relationship between Caine and Addison. This book picks up 7 years after the ending of the last one. You find out what has been going on in each of their lives during this time.
I just love Caine and his personality. He has hung on to his feelings about Addison all this time and he has a really hard time controlling himself when he does finally see her again face to face! He tries to play it cool but he is dying to find out if she ever married or is involved with anyone.
Addison has also remained true to her feelings about Caine while she has been away. I was really curious to see what was going on with David through all of this.
Caine and Addison get together again but decide they should try to remain friends until the situation is resolved with David who is still on the loose and sending messages to Caine about Addison. Even though they try to be friends, their feelings are too strong for each other to not get involved.
It was really great to read what Addison has accomplished with her job and her contribution to society. She has really come a long way. I just want to say this is a really great wrap up to the first book. There are lots of twists and turns and a surprise near the end that I didn't see coming AT ALL.
You won't be disappointed with this book - you won't be disappointed with any of Violet's books. I say that with every book I write about but they are all good. i love them all and have read some of them numerous times.
If you haven't read it yet - get it! Read the first book, Before That Night, before reading this so you know the whole story. Thank you Violet for a job well done!!!
